Planning a Pregnancy – Things You Need to Know

If you’re thinking of having a baby, it’s important to take steps to improve your health six months prior to pregnancy. Being in good health will lessen problems during pregnancy and ensure a fast recovery from birth. Keeping that in mind, whether you’re planning your first or second child, the steps below will help you prepare for the safest pregnancy.

  • Whether you’ve noted your plans down or not, you’ve most likely given considerable thought to having a baby and how to prioritize your life after that. For instance, before you planned to conceive, you’d have been on contraceptive measures to prevent pregnancy. If your chosen contraceptive are condoms, find good ones at Condom Sales. Similarly, you must take action to reach your purpose now that you’re thinking about getting pregnant.
  • Consult your doctor about prenatal health care before becoming pregnant. Your doctor will need to go through your health records and any existing medical conditions that could compromise your pregnancy. In addition, they may address previous pregnancy issues, medications you’re taking now, shots you might need, and precautions you should take before getting pregnant to avert certain congenital disabilities. If you need to take medications before or during the pregnancy, there are services that provide temperature controlled pharmaceutical transport that can deliver these medications and testing kits to your location safely.
  • Before meeting your doctor, make a list of issues to discuss, not to forget anything!

#1 Do you have any health problems? It’s very good if the answer is no. But if you have an underlying disease, there is nothing to worry about. Ensure that they’re within control and treated right before getting pregnant. Some of the most concerning conditions include diabetes, thyroid, highly infectious diseases like STDs (sexually transmissible disease), high blood pressure, and other chronic illnesses. Some of these conditions can be tested at home, for example, you could get take an At Home Thyroid Test for a preliminary check for these.

#2 When you plan to conceive, talk to your doctor about your need to take medicines and ensure you’re only on prescribed medicines. Some drugs might cause significant birth deformities if used during pregnancy. Herbal supplements or dietary modifications, in addition to OTC drugs (over-the-counter) and prescribed medications, are included in these discussions.

#3 Some essential vaccinations are imperative before conceiving, during pregnancy, and right after childbirth. Getting these shots at the right time will not only keep you hale and hearty but also prevent any grave health concerns that may have life-long implications on your child. Contact Widmeyer Optimal Wellness for menopause treatment Lynchburg to support women’s health during all stages of life.

#4 Some other necessary steps to take include taking folic acid to help avoid severe congenital disabilities in the baby’s brain and spine. It’s mostly advisable one month before and during pregnancy; Premature birth, birth abnormalities, and stillbirth can all occur if a woman smokes, uses certain medications while pregnant, or drinks alcohol. Avoid chemical pollutants, harmful toxins like synthetic chemicals, bug sprays, metals or feline & rodent poop, as they can prove detrimental to both men & women’s reproductive systems and can result in a complicated pregnancy.

#5 It is crucial for a woman, whether chubby, skinny, or obese, to consult with the doctor regarding reaching and retaining a healthy weight before becoming pregnant. Short-term dietary modifications are all about maintaining good health that involves frequent physical activity and nutritious food.
