Wish you a Healthy Diwali!

Diwali is a festival of lights, indeed one of the biggest festivals of India. It brings happiness, good fortune, and the festival feel. It is that time around the year, when Delhi is shining bright, anywhere you turn your head to, you see beautiful decorations and lights. But along with this, it may wreak havoc for a few of us, especially with respiratory ailments such as Bronchial Asthma, COPD, Respiratory allergies etc. and skin allergies.

 

Here are some tips and tricks which shall help you cope up with the rising levels of air pollution this Diwali

 

  1. WATER

waterDrinking more amount of water, helps keep your body and lungs hydrated. It helps the lungs perform better, prevents the respiratory airways from drying up which predisposes to cough, air way constriction. It helps the skin, glow better, prevents it from getting damaged by the toxins released in the air. You should also make sure that the drinking water at home and in your workplace is safe and clean by installing commercial water purification systems.

 

EXERCISE

yogaBuild up your respiratory reserve and increase your total lung capacity. Exercising of any form is very helpful in building up a strong respiratory system, and increasing its resistance to foreign particles and pollutants. Brisk Walking, Running, Cardio, Swimming, Yoga, Pranayam are very helpful, so is just deep breathing.   1. AIR CONDITIONERS AND EXHAUSTS

Using the AC in the room and in your car is beneficial at this time of the year, as it in itself filters out the bad air. Keep exhausts in the house running, for maintaining a good flow of air.

Moisturiser is the savior of the skin. Use it often. It helps prevent dehydration and dryness, along with protecting the skin from the smoke and the toxins in the air.

 

 

  1. KEEP ANTI ALLERGICS HANDY

Well, just in case, keep the anti-allergic medications handy such as Allegra, Levocetrizine-Monteleukast etc. These pills can be of use in case of an emergency, or cough cold, skin rashes. Do consult your physician before using the above.

  1. SALT WATER GARGLES
